Reflection

In completion of this project I learned important key principles when solving a real-life application. 1) Coming up with a plan, 2) Checking answers, and 3) Learning skills for other courses.

First, when solving a problem, it needs to be broken down into small parts. Each part I should take the time and focus on what I am doing. During the project, I was a concern on trying to complete the project as quickly as possible rather than taking the time to work out a solution for each step of the planned process.

Second, make sure that I check answers before moving forward. When I found the values of each variable I am glad that I checked if the solution for each variable worked out. Several times on one equation the values did not match, whether I did some miss calculation, or the solution did not work. I know if I had moved on after and not checked my answers, down the line I would have found an error. Which then I would have to backtrack to figure out where I made an error.

Third, the skills that I have developed in math are helping in my English class and CSIS classes. In English when writing an essay, you might complete what you have written but if you don’t check the grammar or punctuation you will then have to fix that and make the essay better. With my Computer Science classes, we are always problem-solving. Most of the steps we do in solving a problem in math class are the steps we take when solving a computer science class.

In conclusion, while working on this project; I learned problem-solving skills takes concentration, a plan, and it is applicable not only to this class but for life experiences. I am thankful for the learning and experience that I am taking from this class.
